Jacob covered his mouth trying not to let bits of laughter escape. "Well then you wouldn't be getting a divorce if you never--" he cleared his throat. "I mean-- Isaac-- even though you two love love each other so much, might wed you off to other people. Isaac tried marrying me off to Sunshine, "he shuddered at the thought, and wiped his arms off like he was trying to get the feeling of the idea off. "I made up a girl to hopefully-- give me some time."

Rebekah sighed. "We're married," she emphasized, "so it would be a divorce. So we haven't...you know..." she scrunched up her face, displeased with the very thought.
"And he wouldn't marry us to other people if he knew that Noah was our kid. She is," she added. "We just went to Hemingford as a ....a vacation. The kid just was born. We're just that good at being married!" Suddenly, she sobered up long enough to realize what Jacob just said.
"SUNSHINE!?" she growled. "She....she hasn't been killed?" Rebekah had lost track of Sunshine after the purging, but had always assumed that sluts would be eliminated.

"No unfortunately." he scowled at the very thought of Sunshine, "Look. You can say whatever. You didn't consummate, you aren't married, it's the rules, doesn't matter how much you love each other." Jacob crossed his arms, and admittedly he was jealous. "It's the rules. It's part of the ceremony. And you have to finish the ceremony to be married. Like-- if on your--"he was quick to correct himself, "one's nineteenth birthday you did all of the ceremony but walk into the field, you wouldn't become one with He Who Walks Behind the Rows."

Rebekah rolled her eyes. At fifteen, she wouldn't be nineteen in like, a million years. Or four. Whatever came first. Still, a long time. That didn't apply to her right now.
"But we have a baby!" she emphasized. "We skipped the intercourse and have a baby! We should be complimented for our efficiency!"

Nope, Jacob still wasn't falling for Rebekah's lies. "Tell me-- did anyone fall for that?"

Rebekah didn't change her expression, and just stared at Jacob with mild curiosity. "Fall for what?"

"That you actually made that baby?" He had a look of annoyance.

Rebekah was taken back. "Of course we made the baby!" she snapped, stamping her foot with irritation. "How else would we get it? Go to Hemingford, kill the parents, grab the kid and run?" she rolled her eyes. "Of---" she looked down, sheepishly. Jacob wasn't going to buy that.
"Fine. We didn't really have it. But having one of your own is so messy. Also, we just rescued a child from the grip of hell. How can that be bad?"

"The only reason it's bad is because it could bring unwanted attention to Gatlin. Otherwise it's wonderful that you saved a child." He shook his head, "Although, I'm surprised you didn't get killed before you left for Hemmingford. I think, that He Who Walks Behind the Rows likes to make us do stupid things and laugh at us." He pouted, more or less talking mostly about how he gets lost in the corn all the time. "Although I'm glad you're not dead--"

Rebekah was aghast. "How could you say something so bad about our God?!" she scolded, waving her finger in front of Jacob's face in rebuke. "He let me and Damon go because he approved of what we were about to do. Esau too, I guess, but..." she shrugged. "He's weird."
After a pauses he added, "I'm glad I'm not dead, too."

This girl is very strange-- "Well-- maybe he did approve-- but then why didn't he tell Isaac to let you keep the child?"

Rebekah thought for a moment. "Well...maybe he will. Isaac said he was going to consult He Who Walks Behind the Rows on it." She beamed, suddenly hopeful. "Then Isaac'll feel guilty for having me flogged."
OOC: Rebekah takes things in stride.

"In which case that pie was pointless--" And disgusting. "And then maybe Isaac won't crucify Damon for it--" Not that Jacob actually thought he would, but still-- who knows that pie was pretty awful!

"It was a defensive measure," Rebekah asserted. "Just in case," she winked, and curled her pointer finger and thumb into the 'ok' symbol. "And -- wait. Isaac is going to kill Damon!?" Her eyes bulged.

Hmm-- what do I tell her-- the truth or a lie-- "Do you want a soft, cousioned lie or the truth?" He put on a sad face.
