Nellie was defiantly getting a big religious feeling from these two, but she still didn't understand what God they where talking about. Couldn't be Christian bible type thing because their was never anything about "endangering" or "outsiders" in that particular book.
She listened puzzled, when she found her voice the girl spoke up before Nellie could speak, and she once more had to calm down her rage. Not only did she find herself in front of a possible cult, but also made a enemy. Great. She ignored the girl's words finding it to be pointless to argue with her, and it wasn't made directly at her to begin with.
Instead she fully acknowledged the boy, "Everybody has a fear of something they don't know about..." How could simple she pose a danger to them? Really the thought was ridiculous. She paused thoughtfully wondering what she would say in his position, "I guess I would protect thoughs I love." She was no longer lying.

Isaac's eyebrows rose unbidden. He had been expecting the impudent answer of 'I would just let the interloper go.' Instead, the Outlander - this 'Nellie' - had opted for honesty.
He cocked his head to the side, sizing the girl up, judging her. She seemed inverted and polite, far different than Sonya Called Susanna, who had taken it upon herself to ensure the proliferation of the race. Far different than the ambitious Zipporah too, hovering behind her. The contrast between Zipporah and the newcomer was very amusing. It was a pity than an Outlander displayed more humility than one of the Lord's chosen children.
"I must pray to the Lord to decide you fate," Isaac decreed. "You may stay here until a decision has been reached. You will remain safe and unmolested until then. You will also be well guarded," he added meaningfully. "I trust you will find this compromise momentarily agreeable?"

Zipporah gave a start at two things. One was that Isaac had ignored her, which was certainly veering on disastrous. Two, he implied that....
"Guarded?" Zipporah repeated. "By whom? We don't have..." she started off slowly, but gained confidance as she spoke, squaring her shoulders and staring her leader squarely in the eye, "We don't have enough people to spare to look after this...Outlander."

Nellie looked at both of them as they spoke finally realizing that she had just gotten off scott free. Alive was another word for it. A part of her stomach that had curled into itself slowly began to uncurl, however she knew perfectly well that this day wasn't over with.
"I have no choice in the matter do I?" She asked with a nervous chuckle. It came out as a statement, and nothing more as her mind pondered over things.. how long would it take? Who would guard her while he was gone? Quickly she added, "Some people may want to do less of guarding and more of..." All she had to do was allow her eyes to linger back on the girl. It was quiet obvious she didn't like Nellie, and she had a small feeling she wanted her dead.

Zipporah delicately lifted her brow. The girl was clever. "Pray, what is it that you believe we would rather do than guard?" she beckoned, lacing her voice with sweetness the way a fabled black widow would lace her husband's cake with arsenic. To Isaac, she added, "I will serve you with the utmost fealty and loyalty." She tilted her head forward, unwilling to bow and allow her attention to stray too far from the captive.
