Dragging Malachai along, Damon grunted and groaned. He never thought he would have to come back to school, but now that he was, he was even more happy about not having to go there everyday at 7 o'clock, on the dot! No sooner, no later. The green chalkboards still had math equations, assignments, and insults to various people written across them. Despite not being fond of being invisible, Damon was always glad that he wasn't merciless picked on like the not so invisible people were.
So this is where Malachai was going to be tied up and held till He Who Walks Behind the Rows takes care of him Himself. Damon dropped the older boy in one of the class rooms. "So, where do we tie him up? And what to?"

John reluctantly trailed after Damon, his watching with a detached judgment, like a teacher who formerly taught in the schoolhouse would eye a student while they performed a math problem. His arms were crossed in front him, noticeably not gripping Malachai as they should have been to subdue the prisoner. But he was eager to jump in when Damon admitted he needed Peters' oh-so-coveted intellectual assistance. "Well, we should be proactive about this," he said. "Like, I think we should tie him around his arms, horizontally. That'll keep him from escaping. And tie him too..." he looked around, searching for something immovable. "Well, I dunno. Isaac wasn't thinking when he sent us here. Idiot."

"We should tie his feet too." Damon added trying to be helpful, as always, then looked around. "What are we supposed to tie him with?" Then a light bulb went off, he had an idea! "We could take him down to the boiler room! There would be big pipes and stuff to tie him to down there-- once we find something to tie him with--" He shrugged, "Janitors closet, maybe?"

John stared at Damon, with a condescending look that only John Peters could squeeze onto his features. "You mean you didn't bring any rope?" he growled. "Really? Geeze..." the boy threw his arms into the air as though this was the worst thing that had ever happened to him. He continued this act of drama, his tone drenched with utter annoyance as he went on, "Why do we have to tie him up, anyway? Let's just leave him here. Close the door behind us. We don't have to have, like, the security of the Outlander's Government, alright? He's not going to run away; why would he bother? He Who Walks Behind the Rows will get him. I trust the Lord. We don't need rope."

"But I don't think--" Damon wrinkled his forehead, "I don't think that Isaac would be very happy if we didn't tie him up. that was part of the deal, tie Malachai up, and leave him hear for the Lord to take care of." His lean build arched backward, with his arms crossed, "Besides, what makes you think that I just carry rope around with me? It's not my job to heard cattle or tie down the fort of a ship!" He tilted his head to one side, narrowed one eye, and looked at John with annoyance. "What is it with you and acting like everything is the worst thing ever" Not that he had ever really had John Peters talk to him. "Really, it's not the end of the world when someone makes a mistake-- unless its a fatal one-- and since when has that happened? You're still here and in one piece! Geeze you complain more than an old, senile woman--" Damon trailed off, mumbling incoherent complaints. At that point he was just complaining because he needed to get it out of his system. He grunted, rolled his eyes and then shrugged, "Look, I just think we should tie him up in the boiler room, it would make me feel better."

"'It would make you feel better,'" John repeated Damon's words, his face contorting into a sneer. "Well, we don't always do things to make you feel better, do we? You think so highly of yourself, Damon!" The boy leaned against the doorframe, and stretched his arm out to push against the opposite onecreating a bar of bone and flesh. "It'll be a lot of trouble to drag Malachai to the boiler room, find an imaginary rope, and tie him up. I don't know about you, but I have things to do. You should just do it the simple way and go about your day. Of doing nothnig. Because you have no friends."

Anger boiled up in side Damon. He clenched his fists down at his sides. "I do have friends! Just because I don't hang around the likes of you, does not mean I haven't any friends." He made an angry pout and grit his teeth together. "And I'll bet if it makes you feel better you'd be all for it." He grumbled insults under his breath, then went on, "If you want to go on with your life that's perfectly fine. I'm going to find the imaginary rope, and I'm going to tie him up in the boiler room. It's not like you've done anything but watch me carry him here anyways. So shoo shoo, go on your oh so important way," he said with slight sarcasm as he gestured that John be out.

John recoiled from Damon, shocked. But he recovered swiftly. "Did you just 'shoo' me?" he challenged, releasing himself from his pseudo-relaxed-threatening-hybrid of blocking the doorway with his arm and muscling his way forward. "You don't do that. That's disrespectful. I talk to you like a human being, you show me the same dignity, alright? I just said a fact - and I said it far more nicely than you deserve. All I said is that you should probably interact with the Lord's children a little more -- and in this very tone, too," he said, though his tone was considerably softer and more coddling than the roar he had charge at Damon just moments before. "And you shoo me. You know, you gotta learn to interact with people. The fold won't survive if you can't even be polite with your fellow chosen children - or if you make me do all the work. You say that if it made me feel better I'd be all for it?" Even as he spoke, John Peters shook his bulgy head. "Hey, it would make me feel better to not have to do all the work around here, but I do anyway. It would make me feel better to not have to deal with everyone's laziness around here - but I do. It would make me feel better to just punch your face in, but I don't because we're both Gatlin children."

Blink, Damon blinked blankly. It's true that he wasn't very good at interacting with people, and he knew it, but that had nothing to do with being rude, it was mostly his shyness. And Damon had recalled being spoken to impolitely very many times by various different children, but that didn't really bother him. What bothered him was John being all high and mighty, like he was the best in the same paragraph that states how he is equal will all[/] of Gatlin's children. If he thinks he so wonderful, then he obviously dosen't think the others are really equal. The contradictory was causing his head to spin. " I said I'd do that work. How does that transfer into you doing all the work?"

IC: "Oh, yeah, I'll admit that you're doing this one thing," John conceded, waving the idea aside. "You're tying up Malachai, yeah. It's wonderful that you were doing one thing for Gatlin today. Glad you're not as lazy as usual, or as lazy as everyone else. I mean, seriously, look around. You and me are the only ones here, taking care of this supposedly-all-important-job of leaving Malachai in a school for He Who Walks Behind the Rows. But look: Isaac's the one who wants it done, and Isaac's not here."

Damon cocked his head to one side like a confused pup. He doesn't want to finish the job that Isaac wanted them to do just because he wasn't there. But somehow I'm the lazy one? He tried to shake the look off his face. "I work the fields like everyone else..." He trailed off mumbling, picked Malachai up and looked at John, "I'm taking him down now..."

"Yeah, you work in the fields like everyone else alright!" John agreed. "And no one really works in the fields. It's just me, really. Everyone just lazes around." He shrugged. "Work harder. He Who Walks Behind the Rows does not tolerate slackers." With that statement still hanging in the air, he leaned back on the wall and released a hearty yawn.

Rolling his eyes slightly, he grunted as he began to walk off with Malachai. It's always the same nag nag nag, nothing is good enough. Damon's always been one to work hard, complain a little inside afterward, and then work his scrawny butt off once again. Although offended by John's accusations, he shrugged them off. He always wished he could be one of those people whose speaks their minds freely, like his wife... Drat! I'm not going to hear the end of it when i see Rebekah again.

Not waiting to see whether or not Malachai escaped from Damon's grip or if his fellow believer needed any help, John called out an overly-friendly thank you to the other boy and started to walk out of the school.

Damon took the time an energy to actually tie Malachai up to a huge pipe down in the boiler room before leaving. Although, leaving seemed stupid, now what was he supposed to do?
