Ruth wandered into the cornfield, hoping that Deborah had kept up with her. But her main concern now was that the sun probably wouldn't hold its position in the sky very long. She knew that going into the cornfield after dark rarely led to good things...
She bit her lower lip and brandished the bucket-formerly-filled-with-poo. "Let's get some dirt for our meal!" she called to Deborah. "And let's hurry!"

Deborah barely did keep up with Ruth. Her tiny five year old legs always held her back. "Kays!" Deborah promptly grabbed mounds of dirt with her hands and less than gently plopped them into the poo-bucket. After a few minutes of this the horrible happened. She uprooted a corn stalk that smacked her clear on the forehead. "WAAAAAAAAAAH!!!! Oh noes! Oh NOES! I's starved a corns to death!!! He who Walks Behind the Rows will be angry!!!!" She eyes weld up and she started to cry. "HEEEEEELP RUTH! Helps!!!"

But Ruth wasn't about to help. Instead, she stared at Ellie through bulged eyes as her mouth dropped into a gape. "Whoa..." she breathed, shifting her gaze onto the fallen corn. "You attacked one of the holy corns!" She had been slouched over collecting dirt for their pie, but upon this realization she leaped upwards. "You're right! He Who Walks Behind the Rows will be angry! Um...what if he eats me?!" Now, for once, somewhat legitimately terrified, she threw herself back to the ground, poured the collected dirt over her head, and covered her eyes. Now she would blend in with the earth, and He Who Walks Behind the Rows wouldn't eat her by accident. 'Cuz she looked like dirt and --
"AHH!" She leaped upwards again. "Now the corn is gonna eat me!" She ran in a circle, flailing her arms above her head.

"I-I-I didn't MEAN too!" Deborah cried. This was horrible. Now He Who Walks Behind the Rows might be angry enough to get over his shyness and come out behind to beat them both! Or eat them like Ruth said. "Ruth what are we..." Deborah turned to see the big kid covered in dirt screaming about being eaten by corn. "I DON'TS WANNA BE EATEN!!!" Apparently it was up to her to right the wrong she created. Deborah grabbed the fallen corn stalk and tried to jam it back into the ground. "...ums...sorrys? Don't kill us now. See? Your all betters."

Ruth gaped at the now-standing cornstalk. It was tilted to the side a bit, and had some of its roots showing, but it was standing.
"Whoa," she breathed, staring in awe at the younger child. "You fixed the corn!" She started to run over to hug Deborah, but as she started into her gallop some of the dirt fell off -- reminding her that she was still covered in corn food. "Help me, too!" she cried. Surely Deborah, fixer of the corn, could protect her from hungry corn...
Unless, since she was the Fixer of the Corn, she sided with the corn. "Get away from me!" she cried, stumbling backwards.

Deborah nodded solemnly and started towards Ruth. She skid to a halt once Ruth yelled at her to get away. So...she was suppose to help her but she couldn't get near Ruth to do so. "B-but....What should I do!" She whimpered. This was a horrible problem. Big kid logic failed her on why she couldn't just brush all the dirt away with her hand. But Ruth was a big kid so she probably knew the reason. And wasn't good to ever cross a big kid. That's how beatings happen. And even though Ruth said she wouldn't you could never trust a big kid to just change the rules without telling anyone.
But she couldn't let the corn eat her new big kid friend. She had to save her! Deborah looked around on the ground and spotted salvation. She picked up a rock. "I'll save you, Ruth!" She hurled the rock at the older kid in hope to knock the dirt off.

Ruth's suspicions proved correct. To make sure the corn got to feed, Deborah picked up a stone and wailed it right at Ruth's face, which was still gaping mid-scream. It nailed her hard in the head. The world went black. The eight-year-old crumpled to the ground, unconscious. Her last coherent thought was that now she was covered with dirt and helpless. Surely, the corn would eat her now. OOC: poor ruth

Deborah blinked in shock. Well...Ruth probably was covered in less dirt from falling to the ground. But now she was closer to the ground the corns domain! Now her chance of being eaten had grown. "WAH!" Deborah squealed. "R-ruth?...Are...are you okays?" She paused waiting for a response. She wanted to run over and check but seeing as she wasn't allowed near Ruth because of something. Maybe if she threw another rock? No. That didn't help Ruth so much last time. It only made things worse.
"I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!!!" She wailed then ran in circles until a thought struck her as hard as the rock struck Ruth. Big kids knew stuff. They'd know what to do! Course they might be angry that the corn was de-flyed, or whatever that big word Issac keeps saying during sermons, and beatings might happen. She sniffed loudly but it was clear now what she must do. A beating was better than being eaten by corn.
She started to run towards where she hoped big kids were.
OOC: Yeah...things can only get worse from here too. D:

Ruth laid on the ground, still completely unconscious, not heating Deborah's panic. A pool of blood spread around her face. OOC: I contribute a lot.

Sonya Blade walked nonchalantly towards the cornfield. It wasn't until the smell of blood reached her nostrils that she even noticed Ruth's unconscious and bleeding face. "Eh? Ruth your not looking too good." She tried to kick the unconscious girl to see if it would awaken. "Hey! Stop it. Your kinda freaking me out." She paused waiting for a response. But having a tad short attention span she just dropped to her knee and bent down in front of Ruth's face. "HEY! STOP! IT! YOU! ARE! FREAKIN! ME! OUT!!!!" She shouted at the top of her lungs. She tried to slap Ruth's face as hard as she could to see if that'd help the girl with apparent head trauma. "Nobodies going to believe that I didn't do this to you at this rate..." She tried to shake Ruth. "WAKE UP!!! WAKE UP!!! STOP BEING INJURED!!!" Honestly. Kids these days.

Ruth didn't stir, despite Sonya's screaming, slapping, and kicking. Though she did collect some bruises.

Sonya growled. Then kicked Ruth again in futility. "You suck Ruth!"

Ruth continued to 'suck'. She also continued to bleed profusely from her head.

Sonya sighed deeply. Apparently intimidation and violence wasn't working on the unconscious girl. She stared at the blood leaking out of Ruth's head. "...OH! I see the problem!" She took off her head band and tried to tie it on Ruth's head wound. "See? You don't have to be jealous of my awesome fashion sense. You could've just asked to borrow my head band instead of ignoring me and being all injured." Sonya grinned. "Alright. So...wake up already. Stupid, you look sexy now theres no reason to act injured."

The headband did little to cure Ruth's head wound. But she did stir.
