[So I guess this is just a role play to introduce Nellie more instead of having her randomly placed about. Less confusing. I don't exactly know how you guys want to respond in orders or what not. I'll leave it up to you.^^]
"Hey kids leave it alone!" Nellie shouted at three children who had been throwing rocks at a small animal curled cowering in the corner of an alley. The children ignored her comments so she reacted rushing forwards and grabbing one of the kid's arms just as the child was about to let loose a rock.
"I said leave it alone." Her voice was laced with venom holding the child's gaze with her own sharp eyes.
The other children had stopped aghast that she would actually try to halt them, it seemed around here to Nellie the kids ruled and the adults [if there really were any because so far she didn't see any] were lost in the dust. Though she wasn't an adult she did really well at acting like one.
The kid jerked away from her grasp sneering at her then they all took off giggling as they went.
She returned her attention to the animal which was badly shaken. It raised it's pitch black head peering out at her with bright orange eyes resembling a pumpkin.
She reached for it, but it only hissed, "I'm not going to hurt you." She spoke soothingly raising her palms for the cat to understand that she mean't no harm. It took time but the cat sniffed her hand and she gingerly picked it up checking for wounds.
It was ok however made a noise when she touched near it's ribs.
There was no collar or tag or anything. More then likely a scavenger she thought to herself, like every other living animal around here.. if their were any others.
Here or more accurately Gatlin was where her Father lived and who she could see on weekends. Her Father liked to tell tales about his childhood memories in this town before he left, he had VERY recently moved back in.
I bet he was never expecting this, she thought as she pet the cat. She heard stories of this place but never knew what really happened, all she knew know was that this place seemed to be a dead town stripped of it's past glory.
Returning her attention to the cat she walked out of the alley still gently carrying it.
Deciding it would be easier to give it a name she speaks her mind, "I'll name you Nightmare then I can never forget about you." Not only that but she had good reasons behind that name, to her it showed how the cat had to live in a dark place... and also it was the perfect Halloween cat.
Nellie headed back towards her Father's ugly red house on the outskirts of town with Nightmare tucked in her arms. Even though things were quiet she didn't trust the thick silence that seemed to cross over Gatlin.
