"No, you don't understand. I'm fine with your intention to adopt, I just don't see why you are going through the trouble. You see, whoever does not hear His word has no chance to deny Him. In turn, they cannot go to Hell. So why take away something loved from someone who will not be going to Hell, you are only hurting them. I mean, think of the mother whom you are taking from. Would you want your child to be taken away?"

Rebekah snorted. "Esau, you don't know anything. Outlanders bear the curse of God. They're going to hell, hon." She released Damon's hand and tried to pat Esau's as though she were comforting a child. "Our parents," she added, recalling Isaac's assurance on the day of the Purging, "are blessed with but eternal sleep 'cuz they lived upon the Lord's chosen land and reared his Children, even though they wallowed in sin. Duh."

Esau put on a look of horror. "Why then do we wait?! We should be saving as many people as possible! Please, allow me to come, allow me save another!"

Damon's pale blue eyes narrowed, "If he wants to then there must be something wrong with it." He nudged Rebekah in the side softly. "Or he just changes his mind a lot..." Confused he grabbed his head with both hands. "First he insists that his imaginary God is the true on, then he says he was wrong. Then he says we shouldn't adopt, but then he wants to go with us and steal one away from the Outlanders."

Rebekah giggled, and patted Damon lightly on the back. "You're right. However, I think that means we're doing something good. Because first he believed in his Imaginary God and THEN he decided to see the truth. He always does the right thing second." She stared at Esau through narrowed eyes. "You know," she advised, "if you could just learn to make the right decision first, you'd be a happy follower of the Lord and not just an infidel-jerk-blasphee-thing."

Still grabbing onto his head, Damon looked at Esau, "But that means what he told me earlier was wrong... and he needs to change his mind!"

"Told you earlier?" She stared at Damon, confused. "What did he tell you earlier? Wha---why were you talking to an Unbeliever?!" Rebekah's voice rose to a shriek, and she whirled onto Esau. "What did you do to my husband?!" she demanded. "If you corrupted him or our child resting peacefully in Hemingford...I'll...I'll..." She paused in thought. "I'll do something not very nice to you!"

Esau jumped at the threat. "I swear it didn't tell him anything blasphemas, I only gave him marital advice, and just because I said it means it's wrong. I mean honestly people, I gave up my old ways, I have changed." He paused, and decided quickly add a note in a flustered tone, "Even though it has probably been less than twelve hours."

"It's been...about two," Rebekah guessed, eyeing the sun in the sky. She had gotten married at noon, when the sun is in the highest position. It was beginning to creep downwards, but it it was still almost straight over her head. "Two hours since you were on the fast-track to hell. And since Isaac still doesn't want to see you, that probably means you still are. Or your infected." At that, Rebekah took a step backwards from Esau. "Infected with sin. Very terrifying."

"He told me to tell you when you hurt my feelings, and that if i don't my pent up emotions will hurt you more than telling you in the first place." Damon reached out to put a hand on Rebekah's shoulder. "I don't know if that's true or not." He closed his eyes, "I mean, I lived with my gramma for 12 years before the purge and I never told her anything I was feeling, and that was for the better. Wouldn't you say?"

Esau sighed, "Well, think about it like this. Because you kept your emotions inside you she never stopped because you never told anyone you were being abused."
Something was annoying Esau, in the back of his mind. He felt a nagging. As he was giving this piece of advice, he realized what it was. He felt that he is making his mission even harder. Why? Well, he figured that if people begin to like him as a changed person they may not like him when he reveals his true purpose. This troubled him, but he decided to bury this thought, at least for now. This was no time nor place to deal with it.

"I wasn't abused!" He argued, be it was pure denial. "She was just like all the other horrible adults. I thought I was wrong, but then Isaac told us of He Who Walks Behind the Rows, and I realized for the first time that it was she who was wrong for all those years." Damon pouted like a small child. "You're right i should've told her she was wrong! But only because He Who Walks Behind the Rows knows. He knows what is best for me and all of his children. I won't grow up and be like my gamma. She spoke her mind to me! and where did that get the people she 'loved'?" He air quoted. "He Who Walks Behind the Rows knows..."his voice got quiet and soothing, "he knows that children are good and adults are bad." And he truly believed this.

Tears. Tears came down the face of Esau's mind. How could he make him see? The tragedy was that at this point he could not. This fact tore most at Esau's heart. "Well, I suppose you are right, you're grandma was wrong to you, but if you had told someone they would have thought so, too. I would have." Esau paused, "So are we gonna do this thing or not?"

"Huh?" Rebekah had gotten distracted by all the touchy-feely talk and her mind had wandered. Damon had said venomously aid he wasn't abused. So they were talking about Damon's lack of abuse? Boring subject.
But then Esau spoke to her, and she nearly jumped with a start. "Oh? Oh, yeah, we're gonna steal a Hemingford baby. Like....need you even ask? Geeze. Stupid." She gestured forward. "Move, Esau, so we can leave, grab the kid, and be home for dinner."
Rebekah had no concept of how long it would take to walk twenty miles, pull a grand heist, and walk back.
