"No! We gotta have children! How else can I be the besterest wife? Wives have children, stupid!" She jerked her head towards the door. "We speak to Isaac? He probably just went into another room."
OOC: A better person would have Isaac come in. No. Not happening.

"Okay," Damon pathetically followed his soon to be wife, having no idea what he was getting himself into. "We'll go find Isaac, and tell him the news."
OOC:I guess this means were leaving this thread

// Oh, I see. Everyone just has to abandon little Dot, eh? Rude. Jk, it be fine, it be fine. \\
Ruth felt her head spin at the turn of events. Isaac had asked to speak to Esau alone after accusing him of heresy, and when Esau returns, his wedding to Rebekah was cancelled? And now Rebekah was going to marry Damon?
"Wow!" she gasped, peering up at Rebekah with the awe that only a child could muster. "You must fall in and out of love a lot, Rebekah! Oh -- " she clasped her small hands over her mouth, realizing that what she said could be taken as an insult. Rebekah wasn't Isaac or Malachai, so she didn't think the girl could order her death, but really, Ruth didn't like to take chances. "I mean...uh... You must be really determined to bear children for He Who Walks Behind the Rows. You must be really...devoted?" Her voice tilted upwards at the end of her sentence, turning the question into a question even though she had determined for it to be a statement.

OOC: :-O Oh my. Sorries... >.< You can come along with us, if you want.
IC:
Rebekah had clenched her fist when Ruth first opened her trap. But she relaxed when the child went on speaking, ending her phrase with a compliment. Rebekah allowed a small smile to spread across her features. "You're right," she affirmed with a nod of her head. "I am really devoted. I'm the most loyal, humble, and most devoted servant of He Who Walks Behind the Rows. That's a girl," she added swiftly, before Isaac or Malachai would materialize and beat her over the head with something blunt. "You'll do well to grow up like me, Ruthie! Hey, Damon!" She spun towards Damon, her smile growing broader as she took in the shy boy.
Damon would be okay, she thought as she offered him a speculative eyeball. She always noticed him, true, but nobody else ever did, so maybe he wasn't noticeable after all. All anyone would see was her beauty, poise, and perfection. Oh, and humility. I always forget humility! she chastised herself.
"Oh, right," she spoke up, remembering that she was still in a room with people. "Let's go find Isaac. I mean..." she figured she had better start brushing up on her holy-speak, if she was going to be holy. Or speak with Isaac. "I mean let us search for Isaac. I believe he may be in the next room. Verily." She blinked. Did Isaac ever say verily?
Eh. She was going to.

"Maybe it would be best if we called Isaac out? He doesn't like people in his room." Then again nothing could be as bad as Esau the heretic right? Then again if Rebekah had her mind made up, she probably wasn't going to change it (till tomorrow) he thought to himself then looked up at her a he couldn't help but but let his lips curl into a smile. "Well, then again... Isaac might want us to come to him." He would do whatever Rebekah told him too and as much as he would like to deny it, he knew it was true. He's always had an eye for her after all. It was probably the confidence she possessed. She was so confident she was the best, and in some ways that made her the best. "Whatever you think is best?"

OOC: Remember what I said before? Yeah. That's called a lie. ;D
IC:
Isaac finally deigned that enough time had passed for him to re-enter the study, where he had left the large party. Isaac made sure that when he entered there was not a trace of the mixed cocktail of emotions visible on his face. The contentment of having discovered the source of Esau's peculiarities, the rage towards the same boy's blatant disrespect, his heresy, the pity for the end result of these heresies: the burning pit of hell. Nor did he allow a smug smile to curl his lips.
He had been right. As he always was. And when he didn't know, the Lord would take his hand and guide him to the correct answer. He had learned a lesson today.
But no one need know that. As far as the children and his loyal followers were concerned, he had learned from the Lord and was already an infallible mouthpiece.
So he entered the room in the same deliberate pace as always, and carried himself with the same natural poise that he always displayed.
He swept one careless gaze across the room to ascertain that Esau was not still there, poisoning the air with his blasphemy, and then spoke. He decided not to comment on his abrupt flee before, and instead spoke as though he had never left. "I apologize, Rebekah, but your marriage with Esau is not to occur. He is a heretic and unbeliever, and it is only by the grace of the Lord that he still lives." He didn't bother to explain, and instead swept on, worried that the girl may panic. He tried to placate her. "If you were to enter into a union with him, you and all your children would be tainted by his blasphemy. My condolences for your loss."
Rebekah, however, didn't seem concerned, or even mildly curious as to what Esau's grievous sin was. "Eh. Happens. Abbreviations suck. I mean... " She was about to amend her words, but then recalled, with concern, her suspicions that Isaac had merely denied her marriage to Esau because of his attraction towards her. Maybe it was because she spoke so well. "I wanna marry Damon instead." She tried to wrap her arm around her new affianced. "Is that okay? Is that okay with you, Damon?" she looked towards him.

"Of course its okay, I'm the one who offered." Damon cleared his throat and wrapped an arm around her as well, "I mean if that's okay with Isaac and He Who Walks Behind the Rows. I wouldn't want to do something that wasn't right in the eyes of your Lord, you see." His mind wandered other places. 'Wowhee abbreviations are bad!" he thought to himself "if that's all it takes to be a heretic." He shook his head. "I ask for your blessing. I promise to take care of her, and try and do good husbandly stuff." Wait that didn't sound quite right. "I mean be a good husband to her and try to make the best... erm" The words escaped his head. Damon panicked afraid what Isaac thought of him stumbling over his own words. "The best father to children, children of our Lord... and..." Nope nothing else was coming out.

OOC: There are so many misunderstandings going on this thread reads like an episode of Three's Company.
IC:
Isaac opened his mouth to correct the pair's mistake. The abbreviation of the Lord's name was a mere misstep when compared with the true treachery of Esau. But he didn't. He decided he would formally announced the taint of Esau during the next sermon, when he had the ears of all his followers.
"Very well," he nodded. "You are a strong woman, Rebekah, to have already overcome your grief. Your determination to serve the Lord is a blessing."
Rebekah tried to nudge Damon in the ribs. "Is he coming onto me?" she hissed.
Isaac didn't overhear. "The marriage will take place tonight."

Damon grabbed his rib where she nudged him, and whispered in response to her, "I don't think he would be letting us get married tonight if he was trying to come on to you." He straitened up as much as he could with his poor posture, "I will try and show my full gratitude in time. Rebekah and I will continue to be as loyal as humanly possible to He Who Walks Behind the Rows." He scratched behind he one ear, slightly uncomfortable with Esau's treachery invading Gatlin. Damon became ill as he grew curiouser and curiouser. "Esau wont taint things more than he already has will he?" Flushed, he squeezed Rebekah.

Rebekah turned her head, eyes narrowed into slits. Through gritted teeth she managed to say, "What, do you mean to say Isaac has no reason be attracted to me? I'm the most beautiful creature here, he couldn't do better!"
Isaac, however, was as calm and unperturbed as always. "Fear not, Damon," he assured the older boy. "Esau is of no more threat than any of the other doomed creations. The Lord will watch over and protect us, as he always does. Rest assured that your children will come into and live into a world of rich with the Lord's protection and guidance." He paused, recalling the venom in which Esau had rallied against him. It had been as though his tongue had been twisted by a Demon itself, pulled upon strings and controlled like a puppet.
And Isaac, though he wasn't certain if it was the mere taint of his contorted memory, he swore he saw the flames of hell flash in those eyes.
"But be wary," he warned. "He is an unbeliever. He is evil."
"'Kay," Rebekah nodded. That seemed fair.

He was easily reassured, he nodded. "Rebekah," he sighed knowing he wasn't going to win, "I just don't think Isaac's big concern is girls right now. You are very beautiful," He smirked,"and you are more than aware of that." He rested a hand over his eyes and rubbed them vigorously. "Do we have to do anything before this whole marriage thing tonight?"

Isaac had been distracted, his mind still swirling with the words of the sinner Esau. It had been three years since something so blasphemous, so conniving so --- evil had gotten close to him.
No, that wasn't true. The truth was far more disturbing. The truth was Esau, and all the sin that stalked him, had been brushing against the believers and living among them for the past three years. He had polluted the air, and had placed them all in grave danger of invoking the Lord's wrath.
A shiver crawled down Isaac's spine. He shook himself, and tried to focus his attention onto Damon. The boy was asking him something.
Isaac's mind was still miles away. "Huh?" he asked. Instantly, disturbed that such a barbaric, useless noise had passed through his lips, he tried to mask it with a delicate cough. "Excuse me," he pleaded, and rapidly his mind caught up, and he repeated the common mantra for daylight weddings. "You and Rebekah will be married at noon," he repeated. "When the sun rises high in the sky. Just as our lifeblood will be invigorated by its warmth and given the strength to offer seeds for the future, so shall you be. In preparation you must pray to the Lord for guidance to serve and protect your spouse. Eat and be strengthened," he added. "For your body will need its strength to heal."

"Heal?" Damon blinked. "Right, Rebekah and I shall reserve and build I strength for later." As Isaac spoke of food he remembered yet again he hadn't eaten yet, and that Rebekah was going to make a pie out of cucumbers for the two of them to eat... or were they sharing it. His stomach howled loudly. "Excuse me. My stomach hasn't received food recently." He lowered his head apologetically, then returned his gaze to the boy preacher. Damon pressed his slender hand into his stomach, and nudged Rebekah. He lowered his voice, "Can you make that pie now?"

"Do you have any idea how long it takes to make a pie?" Rebekah snapped. "There's no way I'll finish in time. Just eat the frickin' cucumber!" She shoved the vegetable into Damon's face. "No pie will be made today. I'll make you a pie some other day."

He grinned, extremely pleased. Swiftly and quickly, he snatched the cucumber and began to eat it without cutting it or peeling it first, despite having a pocket knife in his pants pocket. It crunched with every bite louder than his stomach could growl. "Mmm," he said with a full mouth, "This is a very good cucumber," Damon swallowed before saying more. "Rebekah, you are the best right now. best soon to be wife in all of Gatlin." His features looked more childish than ever as he took the biggest bites he could and whipped his mouth with the sleeve of his cotton button-down shirt.
He all of inhaled it in seconds, "My regards to the gardeners. That was a delicious cucumber." He smacked his lips. "Well I guess... I better get ready for the ceremony in a couple hours." Damon tried to push out the anxiousness he collected thinking about standing in front of all the children.
