Wait...where am I? How did I get here?

Jamie Brooks was once more stuck in a pickle. Not literally because that would be gross impossible. No really she found herself on the roads after she did...

What DID she do exactly? All she could recollect was she was on her way to do something, important or not she didn't remember, and she wound up here. Just here.

"Ugh, what happened? Think!" She sighed frustrated at herself for not remembering or knowing what it is she was supposed to do. It wasn't her fault though it was that darn amnesia she was born with, and she hated it so much wishing she could take back the genes given too her.

She began to walk aimlessly whilst attempting to bring back lost memory. Whichh was difficult, REALLY difficult. She felt like any second now she would give in to stress, and tare her hair right out of her skull.

Damon wasn't sure where he was going, or that he was actually going. For a few reason, one He Who Walks Behind the Rows would kill you if you strayed to far from town, actually he would send someone like Malachi to come kill you. And that didn't sound much fun...

On the other hand, going back and being used by a punching bag by someone didn't sound much fun either, so he just paced. Back and forth, back and forth.

Until he noticed something, or rather someone else on the road. First response, cover head and apologize, chanced are he did something wrong. "I'M SORRY! DON'T KILL ME!"

Jamie in her own mind wasn't paying attention to the fact that she could possibly be in the presense of others. Nor did she care at the time, but that was besides the point.

She spotted someone- a boy to be process- and eagerly she approached him (actually more like ran) hoping that maybe he would hold the key to her utter confusion. She ignored his words already forming her own.

"Do you know how I got here?!" She had to stop herself from screaming really it was hard not to shriek out to the heavens above in these times. She stared at the boy with her big bright green eyes.

At first when the girl came running at him, he got even more frightened, especially when he could make out that it was a girl. Girls were always so mean to poor Damon. But rather than smacking him or insulting or whatever it is girls do, she asked him how she got there

"I'm assuming you walked here...?" That seemed the most logical, although then again Gatlin seemed pretty big on pranks sometimes. "Then again, I guess i could be wrong..." he then mumbled to himself, "I usually am."

Jamie blinked, pondered, then blinked again. Ok now he was confusing. How else could she get here besides walking? Maybe she flew! The thought was so ridiculous that it just could be logical. But that was silly because none of the children owned or stole plans, and/or stored them to her knowledge.

Then she heard him making a crude comment about himself, and being a nice person she spoke up momentarily sidetracked, "You think your wrong? Look at me!" She exaggerated this by extending her arms, "I'm a wreck! I forget things all the time, making me wrong about half the time." With another stressful sigh she spoke quieter, "By the way I'm Jamie. Just thought I'd let you know about the person who randomly ran up to you on a road." She was feeling childish, and well aware of it which only deepened to the fact that she was in the presense of a guy.

Damon began to wonder if someone hit her over the head with something, and that's why she couldn't remember anything... after all it had happened to himself a time or two. When she said look at me, although not what she meant, his pale-blue eyes gazed at her momentarily, then followed her movements, slightly confused at the topic at hand. "I'm... Damon." He blinked and stared, it was a bit random to just run up to someone and all, and yet it seems to happen a lot.

So Jamie did not notice that she had been examined stared at, but mostly due to the fact that she was still in a energized state of mind because she found someone. However that still didn't solve her problem.

Even though she was young she had a older looking appearance, and never took the time to notice that she was mature, and it showed well. Which could explain the stares she occasionally got from others.

Her eyebrow rose at his introduction. Maybe he was shy? Who knew? She defiantly was not. It finally dawned on her, she made no sense at all about that whole forgetting thing.

"Oh um the reason I'm asking how I got here is because I have amnesia." She chuckled nervously than added, "Which is why I'm freaking out because I just have a feeling I'm supposed to be doing something..." She trailed off still trying to think. Failing miserably at that she pouted.

"Amnesia...?" Now, Damon was very forgetful, in fact he was sent out to go get breakfast for a large group of boys, then wandered the streets for a while and totally forgot what it was that he was supposed to be doing and instead got himself in a whole new kind of trouble, but amnesia was new, because at least Damon eventually remembered what he was doing, even if it was days later.

"Did you get hit on the head?" It made sense, that's usually when people got amnesia, right? "I could take a look at that... although, I couldn't help the remembering... or forgetting in this instance and... " he felt that if he went on he would trail off and be talking more to himself than her, so he just stopped.

Jamie was confused, well even more confused then she already was. Which was saying something. WAS she hit in the head as a child, and forgot everything? But she remembered she lived a good life, good parents. No couldn't be that. She remembered.

"No I was born with it passed down from my family." It was true her grandparents, and great-great-great-great (so on so forth) parents had it. Really it was terrible. She had to stop herself from getting whiny, but she was desperate, what if she had to do something that the preacher asked? Then she'd be in BIG trouble!

She had no idea how to fix having an amnesia or how it was examined however she sensed a way out, and she nodded vigorously, "Do whatever it takes!" She took that moment to realize that the boy was kind of cute, amongst other things, bu those thoughts were quickly replaced by her need to be "cured".

"Well... I mean... If you weren't hit then... I guess I can't fix it. You'll just have to find something that will refresh the memory... maybe." An idea hit him, of course it came out of a bad soap opera that he gramma had watched once. "Maybe if you find a constant. You know have something that you can't ever forget because it's so important, and suddenly it all hits you at once when you see or feel that object!"

The moment it came out of his mouth her realized how cheesy,-dime-store-romance-novel that all sounded. Then again, that's exactly what it was on the tv too. "Maybe not... that's pretty lame." He cupped his mouth and thought again.

Jamie's heart felt like it had crumpled. It couldn't be fixed? A moment ago the chances were up there, but now it couldn't? This was clearly pronounced on her face as it seemed to break apart.

"Oh.." She simply stated feeling helpless for the incurable. But as soon as his words were out her face grew bright in joy, and excitement. That could work! Could it? It had too!

"Eureka your a genius!" She exclaimed gleefully, "I'll do exactly that! It's gotta work!" With a giggle she jumped forth, and hugged him. She wouldn't get into possible trouble for forgetting because she'd remember! Quickly she added though because she knew she'd be lost on her own, "I need your help." Her expression had changed yet again it was serious this time.

The moment Jamie had called him genius, Damon's heart fluttered. He was so very pleased, and slightly concerned, no one ever says anything nice to him, especially like that. He tried to his a pleased smile, but ultimately it was too much for him. A big toothy grin sprawled across his face. "I'm genius," he mumble happily under his breath.

Then he felt the girl embrace him. Surprised him it did. But he hugged back, and batted her on the back. "I guess I could help. I don't see why not." Damon enjoyed being helpful, but most of the time he was more of a nonsense.

Jamie heard his small compliment of her compliment, and she chuckled automatically feeling good that she made someone's day, especially Damon's day. She let go taking a polite step back, and spoke suddenly realizing something.

"But..where do we start?" She scratched at her head in wonderment looking at him as if he knew all the answers. Or at least the ones that she didn't know.

Oh great! Another problem she had to solve. She tried to keep her disappointment to herself, but some of it leaked through on her expression as she looked around them.

Damon hunched over displeased. And he was back to being useless. Although, that's still more useful than he was before the whole ordeal. "Maybe, if there's something really close to you in one way or another... you know... like does anything just kind of jump out at you in your memory?"

He figured if she remembered it, it must have been special in one way or another... but then again if she remembers it, but it doesn't make her memory come back like in the soap opera, then maybe it wasn't as important as he had thought. "Scratch that... we're going to have to find something new!"

Jamie clapped her hands together in excitement, and even though he exclaimed it with "jump" she had to give herself another example. Or just tell it to herself, "Like a BOOM, and then memory back!" She was getting really happy thinking that their was no possible odds that this couldn't not work.

But then she reconsidered his next words. Maybe. She was liking the idea of the first one, but she had not as many options as him so she just listened along.

"Hmm...." She thought aloud to herself then finally decided, "Let's walk, and talk maybe that'll refresh something."
And also she didn't like just standing on the road, it didn't feel safe.
